Beware of Fraudulent Breeders!
So many people are getting scammed when it comes to finding the pet they have always looked and longed for. You have to be so careful these days! What is even more sad, is that we as breeders are also prone to scams. So please don't take it wrong if I question you about some things, because I need to make sure my puppy is going to a legitimate home, just as much as you need to be sure your puppy is coming from a legitimate breeder.
Here are some things you need to watch out for:
-
Always make sure you pick up your puppy in person. I have an open-door policy with my dogs and would never deny a person the chance to come meet me and how see how they are raised.
-
Most airlines won’t ship French Bulldogs (or any other breed that is brachycephalic [snub-nosed]). Be wary of someone who promises to ship a puppy to you. I will not put a puppy in the cargo hold of an aircraft.
-
All contact information should be provided, including name, address and phone number. When you see an advertisement with an email address or someone telling you to text only, BE CAREFUL!!
-
Always get a contract - in writing. My contract is posted on my website for anyone and everyone to refer to whenever they want.
-
Ask for references from people who have purchased puppies from previous litters. I have people who regularly post updates on my Facebook page. You can always send them a private message.
-
Never send cash or wire money. Get a receipt, it can be through Paypal or hand-written for cash.
-
If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is! This is how they hook you. They take your money and they never even really had a puppy for sale.
Always do your research! Any reputable breeder will assist you and answer any questions for you. There shouldn't ever be something to hide. So trust your instincts. If it doesn't feel right, move on and find someone who makes you feel comfortable.
